The geef honored SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant with prestigious "The GEEF Global Environment - Safety Awards 2025" in Steel Sector with a trophy and citation for their exceptional contributions to Environmental Beliefs, Values and Action in their practices on 12th February 2025 at JW Marriott Aerocity New Delhi Aerocity, India.
Steel Authority of India Limited, RSP is adopting the state of the art environment friendly steel making technologies, progressively, since inception in 1959. Rourkela Steel Plant is first in Asia to adopt LD technology of Steel Making in early 60s’ which is energy efficient and environment friendly and first in India to produce 100% steel in continuous casting route which is energy efficient and environment friendly. RSP install 1 MW Solar Power Plant inside plant premises and waste gas recovery systems and producing green power.
SAIL-RSP fosters a culture of safety awareness through regular training, workshops, and campaigns. SAIL-RSP follows industry-leading safety protocols, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and preventive measures. Modern safety equipments, automation, and digital monitoring systems are employed to minimize risks. Adopted key initiatives on IT tools to ensure a safe workplace involves using technology to enhance security, ensure employee well-being, and create a safe physical environment. These tools are integrated, updated regularly, and used with employee training to maximize effectiveness. Implemented Behavioral Intervention program in which employees observe each other’s behaviors and provide positive reinforcement or corrective feedback which helps to establish a safety-conscious culture. SAIL-RSP have achieved a consistent track record of reduction in workplace accidents and maintaining high safety standards.
